From the outset, sustainability guided every decision in the design and construction of the Post Headquarters – Helix. The reuse of existing foundations and structures saved over 8,600 m³ of concrete and nearly 2,600 tonnes of CO₂, while sourcing materials locally reduced transport and associated emissions. Durable natural materials and modular façade systems were incorporated to ensure long-term resilience and minimise maintenance requirements.
In 2025, the Helix building received both DGNB Platinum and Diamond certifications, recognising its exceptional performance across ecological, economic, socio-cultural and technical criteria. Achieving DGNB Platinum demonstrates that the building meets the highest standards in sustainable planning and implementation, while the DGNB Diamond distinction, awarded for the first time outside Germany, highlights the project’s outstanding design and architectural quality. This rare and prestigious recognition confirms that Helix is exemplary not only in environmental and economic terms but also in its social and cultural impact.
The certification ceremony took place within the Helix building itself, attended by Claude Strasser, Managing Director of Post Luxembourg, Johannes Kreißig from DGNB, GG Kirchner, Partner and Architect at Metaform, and many others who celebrated the achievement.
Special thanks are extended to the DGNB jury, Amandus Sattler, Dagli Luxembourg, our partners at E3consult, and of course Post Luxembourg for their trust and collaboration throughout the project.
The DGNB recognitions underscore Helix as a benchmark for sustainable and high-quality office architecture, demonstrating how thoughtful design and careful material choices can create a building that is both environmentally responsible and architecturally remarkable.
