DSL Headquarters

The transformation of a former warehouse in Steinsel redefines an existing industrial building into a contemporary office environment for DSL, a company specialised in IT solutions. Originally used as an exhibition hall, the project retains key characteristics of the existing structure while adapting it to new functional and spatial requirements.

The design approach is based on preserving the identity of the warehouse while introducing a clear and open working environment. Upon entry, a double-height reception space establishes the central atmosphere of the building, with daylight entering through large bay windows and restored skylights integrated into the steel roof. The intervention maintains the original structural elements, combining them with a restrained material palette of white surfaces, exposed steel, and oak detailing.

The interior organisation supports both collaboration and individual work. A central staircase in oak becomes a defining element, acting not only as circulation but also as a shared space for informal use. Open-plan offices are complemented by meeting rooms and quieter areas, creating a balanced and flexible working environment.

The project places emphasis on user comfort and well-being through light, material, and spatial quality. The introduction of natural light, combined with warm materials and planted elements, contributes to a calm and welcoming atmosphere. Furniture and interior design choices further reinforce a more informal and approachable workspace.

Working within an existing industrial structure required adapting the building to contemporary office standards while maintaining its original character. This balance between preservation and transformation defines the overall architectural approach.

The result is a bright and adaptable workplace that combines the spatial qualities of the former warehouse with the needs of a modern office, creating a coherent and engaging environment for everyday use.
